Meet Dr. Belcher
Originally from Lynchburg, Virginia, Dr. Belcher received his undergraduate degree in Economics and Business in 1985 from Randolph Macon College. Following a brief career in the computer industry and after realizing a strong interest in dental medicine, he returned to school. He attended Dental School at The University of Maryland, where he graduated with highest honors (Magna Cum Laude) in 1994. Upon graduation, Dr. Belcher was inducted into the National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
Dr. Belcher completed specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. As part of his residency, he gained extensive experience in maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, pathology, bone grafting, and reconstructive surgery. After completing his residency, Dr. Belcher moved to California where he practiced full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in private practice while gaining proficiency in facial cosmetic surgery. He returned to the East Coast to practice in Maryland and served on the attending surgical staff at his alma mater, the Washington Hospital Center. In 2001, he moved to Greensboro, North Carolina joining the practice of Piedmont Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Belcher brings wide ranging experience to Piedmont Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with special interests in dental implant surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, as well as orthognathic and reconstructive Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. As he is committed to exceptional patient experiences and wellbeing, Dr. Belcher chose to go beyond the normal hospital based anesthesia training and pursue extra training in the administration of general anesthesia. He continually strives to enhance the treatment of every patient entrusted to his care. He has been in private practice since 1998.
Dr. Belcher remains active in the professional dental and medical communities. He is a member of the Dental Societies in Guilford, Alamance and Randolph counties. He has also served as an anesthesia examiner for the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners. As he constantly seeks to increase his knowledge in practice, he participates in a local dental study club, the Piedmont Triad Implant group. He is board certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is a member of the surgical attending staff at High Point Regional Hospital and the High Point Surgery Center.
On a personal level, Dr. Belcher relishes spending time with his family. He also enjoys many sports and travel.
