Steven G. Gollehon, DDS, MD, FACS
Meet Dr. Gollehon
Born in High Point, Dr. Gollehon is a native of Guilford County and was raised in Greensboro. He completed his undergraduate education at Appalachian State University in 1991, earning his BS in Biology, with minor degrees in Chemistry and Education. He attended the University Of North Carolina School Of Dentistry from 1991-1995 where he received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS). Upon completing dental school, Dr. Gollehon attended medical school at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine where he received his Doctorate in Medicine (MD). After completing medical school, Dr. Gollehon completed an internship in General Surgery at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine with extensive rotations in general surgery, neurosurgery, trauma surgery, and anesthesiology. Afterwards, he remained at LSU to complete his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the Louisiana State University Medical Center, which is considered among the top residency programs in the world. During his residency, he received extensive training in orthognathic and facial reconstructive surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, dental implant surgery, and head and neck surgery and oncology.
Dr. Gollehon is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a diplomate of the United States Board of Medical Examiners as well as the United States Board of Dental Examiners, and licensed to practice both dentistry and medicine in North Carolina. Dr. Gollehon is a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, The American College of Surgeons (FACS), The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, The Royal College of Surgeons (honorarium), and The American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons. Until recently, Dr. Gollehon was one of the only Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in North Carolina to be extended an invitation for fellowship in the American College of Surgeons.
During his career, Dr. Gollehon has published numerous articles and textbook chapters in the oral and maxillofacial surgery, reconstructive surgery, and cosmetic surgery literature on facial alloplastic implants, preprosthetic surgery, orthognathic and reconstructive surgery, arthroscopic surgery and facial pain. He is also former Adjunctive Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Louisiana State University Medical Center where he was directly involved in teaching residents and students.
Dr. Gollehon’s special professional interests lie in orthognathic surgery, cosmetic maxillofacial surgery, cleft lip and palate surgery, reconstructive head and neck surgery, and dental implant surgery. He and his wife are the proud parents of four daughters. In his spare time, Dr. Gollehon enjoys backcountry snow skiing and mountain biking in Utah and Heli-skiing in the Columbia Mountains of British Columbia, Canada.
